Has been working in the IT arena since 1976. In the last 25 years he has held senior management positions for several IT companies. Among them globuDATA, Systrade, Wolf Computer (an Ascom company), Micronetics and IBM.
He specialises in the development and project management of web applications and covers a series of consultancy mandates. He also taught Internet Marketing for the Swiss Marketing Club.
He is fluent in German (mother tongue), English, French, Italian and Greek

Vincenzo Calizzi
Chemical engineering refining & recovery processes
Graduated from the Technical Institute Guido Donegani in Crotone, Italy and continued his studies University of Perugia, Italy, in chemical engineering.
For thirty years he worked at one of the major European precious metals refineries in various managerial functions and during the last twenty years was technical manager of the recovery unit. He has acquired a vast experience in handling different minerals and mine material and is recognized for his particular competence in solving complex technical problems and exploring new solutions with a view to optimizing the refining process.
Of Italian mother tongue, he has an excellent working knowledge of English, German, French and Spanish.

Marco Pittaluga
Chemical Assaying Analysis of precious metals
Certified assayer of precious metal products
For 25 years he was in charge of the assay laboratories at one of the major European precious metals refineries . His vast experience includes assaying and chemical analysis of fine metals, alloys and many different materials containing precious metals, even trace elements, using sophisticated analysis techniques such as AAS, Xray, ICP, IDCA, Spark and others. He also has experience in the accreditation of methods of analysis according to EN 45001 and certification according to ISO 9001.
During the last 5 years he was technical manager in a firm specializing in the recovery of precious metals contained in scrap and waste from the watch and jewellery manufacturing industries.
Of Italian mother tongue, he has excellent working knowledge of French, English, German and Spanish
Pittaluga holds a sworn assayer’s diploma from the Swiss Federal Bureau for the Control of Precious Metals.

Irena Podleska
Precious metals and jewellery market monitoring and analysis
Graduated from the London School of Economics before joining Consolidated Gold Fields, London.
As a free-lance analyst, she has specialized in European, North American and North African jewellery markets since the 1970's. She has carried out research for the International Gold Corporation, the World Gold Council, the Platinum Guild and precious metals jewellery manufacturers and specialist refiners.
Over the years, she has developed a unique, up-to-date database on world jewellery markets tracking closely trade, environment and trends. A global network of contacts ensures an ongoing vision and understanding of markets and their issues and of the challenges of globalisation. Export development and marketing strategies are typically areas in which companies can benefit from this expertise. She speaks five languages: English, Polish, French, Italian and Spanish and can survive in Russian. She is based in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Ing. Willem G. van der Touw
Quality management and ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 Certification
Graduated from the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands and worked with global companies in Europe and overseas in managerial positions.
In the '80's he set up a consulting agency for Quality and Environmental Protection. A member of the Swiss Association for Quality Management, he specializes in setting up efficient quality management structures and obtaining ISO 9000 or ISO 14000 certification. Another competency is the development of safety and health management structures in accordance with the requirements of local governments or the European Community Council Directive 89/391/EEC.
He speaks six languages: German, English, Italian, Dutch, French, Indonesian and also some Portuguese after working in Brazil for three years.

VI-JET - Virtual Institute for Jewellery Technology

Faes Management Consulting is the Business Manager of this Virtual Institute.
The VI-JET project was initiated early 2002, supported by the European Commission, Directorate General Research GROWTH Programme, with the aim of improving European jewellery industry competitiveness. The partners include national research institutions and universities and other specialists in the jewellery and precious metals field. The objective of this independent, professional network of sixteen partners from twelve countries (ten EU, Israel and Switzerland) is to pool technical and commercial experience and know-how in order to offer the European jewellery industry SME's a unique and complete range of services for its further development. |

European Jewellery Institute ASBL EuJI
A Global Knowledge Transfer Network for the Jewellery Sector
The EuJI ASBL (European Jewellery Institute - Association Sans But Lucratif) was incorporated on December 2, 2003 under Belgian law, in Brussels. It is a non- profit organization stemming from the above-mentioned EC- funded project “European Virtual Institute for Jewellery Technology”.
The EuJI-ASBL will enable all European jewellery SME’s to access the most advanced production technologies, contemporary design tools, innovative features in processes and products, the most up-to-date marketing techniques, training programmes and diagnostic methods on a previously unknown scale. Networks of experts and local helpdesks are being set up to facilitate contact between SME’s, associations and institutions in the sector and to extend the range of services provided.
Rolf Faes has been nominated president of the Board of Directors of EuJI ASBL since the constitution.

Hanspeter Thiel - Remembrance
Finance and Accounting Expert - Certified Accountant and Controller
Hanspeter Thiel, my first alliance partner and best friend for close to 40 years, contributed significantly to our group’s high level of professional consultancy. He died peacefully on the 21st of April 2005 after a short illness. The entire team of alliance partners remembers the late colleague with great respect and friendship.
He was Member of the Swiss Institute of Accountants and Tax Consultants
For thirty years he worked with one of the big four international accounting firms and during the last twenty years was a partner and a member of the Swiss Management Board. His professional experience included auditing and business consultancy for national and international clients, especially in the area of corporate finance, transaction support, risk management and corporate governance.
From 1997 to 1999 he was Chairman of the Swiss Institute of Accountants and Tax Consultants and up to his death Chairman of the Board of the Swiss Accountancy Academy. He served as Board Member of various national and international firms.
In memory of a fascinating man, friend and alliance partner.
